ALBAWABA - A man was caught on video urinating on the Papal altar during a morning mass at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.
A clip that went viral on social media showed a man wearing a grey t-shirt taking his pants off and starting to pee on the altar at St. Peter's Basilica on Friday at about 9:00 a.m. Vatican City time.
The unidentified man took the steps of the Altar of Confession at St. Peter’s Basilica and urinated in front of hundreds of tourists. On this spot, the sitting pope typically performs Mass, Italian websites reported.
Corriere della Sera reported that when the authorities caught him, the man bent down and put his jeans back up.
The media, however, didn't clarify whether Pope Leo XIV was giving the mass or not. But, Corriere della Sera said that he was shocked to know what happened.
