ALBAWABA - CNN broadcaster Anderson Cooper recently sparked controversy after misgendering local civil rights attorney Grace Thomas on live television, referring to them as a "she" instead of using their correct pronouns, "they/ them."

Amid Cooper's accidental mistake, Thomas was quick to correct him and say,"they/ them pronouns actually... Thank you."

The clip quickly swarmed social media and went viral on Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter), garnering a wide variety of reactions. While several took to Cooper's defense, stating that mistakes like this could "easily" happen with anyone, several others didn't take the situation lightly, demanding repercussions, due to the implications it might cause in the future.

On the contrary, several social media users used sarcasm to defend Anderson Cooper. An X user wrote, "This pronoun stuff consumes an awful lot of energy. 1 life to live, do we have to use it tracking people’s pronouns?"

Another added, "Every time someone corrects a pronoun on air, five more Americans cancel cable and register Republican. Keep it up, CNN, you’re our best campaign ad."

The incident occurred during a CNN town hall event wth Senator Bernie Sanders, who warned Americans about the complications of Elon Musk and DOGE's effect on the US' future job market, bringing up topics such as AI (artificial intelligence).

Bernie said, "What do you think... He's gonna be doing when artificial intelligence and robotics come for your jobs... Guess what? The job you have will not be here in the next 10 to 15 years."

He added, "They don't give a damn about you."
