ALBAWABA - Ten days after the Iranian surprised direct attack on Israel, France announced investigating an Air France flight which continued its route despite passing next to Tehran's ballistic missiles.
According to sources, Air France AF662 flight was over Iraq airspace when the Iranian attack on Israel happened. A video showing ballistic missiles near the plane caused panic online.
In a statement, Air France said it is investigating how one of its commercial aircraft was flying in Iraqi airspace at the same time and place as Iranian missiles were passing.
It continued that a plane traveling between Paris and Dubai on October 1, flew over Iraqi airspace at the time when Iran launched about 200 ballistic missiles against Israel in a revenge attack for the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader, and Hassan Nasrallah, secretary-general of Hezbollah.
The French airlines explained that flight AF662 crossed Iraqi airspace shortly before the closure of Iraqi airspace, after the start of the attack, without any warning of the consequences of that passage, according to the French television channel LCI.
The flight's two pilots confirmed they saw the Iranian ballistic missiles while flying over Iraq in the dark of night. They also added that the Iraqi Air Traffic Control Center had wished them "good luck" during their passage.
