ALBAWABA - Hours after Russia's 8.8-magnitude earthquake, Japan was hit with a 1.3-meter tsunami, causing four whales to wash ashore along the coast of Tateyama, Chiba.
A live broadcast captured the rare moment as whales are usually not affected by tsunamis. Another video showed Japanese civilians in Hokkaido taking shelter on top of a building in fear of the tsunami. Authorities in Japan urged citizens to stay alert as bigger waves could be on their way.
A social media user wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), "It’s not a common thing to see at all, and it’s indicative that this quake was absolutely DEVASTATING to the marine life."
