ALBAWABA - US Senate Bob Casey has drawn mixed reactions after unveiling his latest campaign ad in Pennsylvania featuring the photo of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
The widow of Jamal Khashoggi, the Washington Post journalist who was killed inside the Saudi consulate in Turkey in 2018, submitted a complaint over the ad pushing the American Senate to stop renewing it.
Politico website reported that the campaign confirmed in a Friday statement that it sympathizes with Khashoggi's widow Hanan Elatr Khashoggi, but didn’t plan to immediately remove the campaign ad.
According to the news website, the ad included the Washington Post journalist's picture to criticize opponent Dave McCormick for ties with Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, Hanan Elatr Khashoggi said that Bob Casey's ad is insensitive and mistakenly describes her "late husband as an American".
She wrote an email to the Senate office: "The commercial is a very painful reminder of how my husband died, and as you can imagine, I have been traumatized every day for the past 6 years."
She further mentioned that she won't take any political action against the American Senate, but she is "dedicated to correcting misconceptions" about her late husband, Jamal Khashoggi.
