ALBAWABA - UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is under fire across social media after taking to Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) and sharing his statement about the recent Gaza ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel, on Wednesday evening.
Starmer took to Musk's X and wrote "My statement on the Israel-Hamas ceasefire," following a four-paragraph statement explaining his views about the matter in question. His alleged insensitive bias towards the Israeli people sparked outrage among human rights and pro-Palestine activists.
UK's Keir Starmer under fire over insensitive Gaza ceasefire statement
While showcasing concern for both sides in the first paragraph, he used terms like "massacred" for Israelis and "lost their lives" for Palestinians who lost limbs, families, and homes due to the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza.
One user wrote on Musk's X in reply to Starmer, "Israelis are “massacred” whilst Palestinians have “lost their lives”….you can’t even afford them humanity even in this statement, disgusting."
Another added, "A lesson in racism. Israelis suffer brutality and massacres at the hands of a named culprit. Palestinian suffering isn't even acknowledged, no mourning extended to them, their oppressor mysterious and unnamed."
In his last words, he brought up the two-state solution between the state of Palestine and Israel and the UK's plan "to break the cycle of violence and secure long-term peace in the Middle East."
Despite a ceasefire reached between the two parties, Israel is continuing its aggression on Gaza killing at least 73 Palestinians as the deal won't commence until Sunday next week, as reported by Al-Jazeera.
Earlier, the spokesperson for the Civil Defense Service in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal, told AFP: "Israeli raids have not stopped despite the announcement of the truce. Rather, the Israeli occupation is escalating its aggression against citizens in all areas of the Strip."
