ALBAWABA - A Turkish university said that it is taking serious measures against the female student who raised LGBTQ+ flag during the graduation ceremony.

In a statement, Usak University revealed that it has started official proceedings against the student who raised Pride flag.

According to the student, Melisa Caymaz, who raised the LGBTQ+ flag on July 17, she is now facing death threats in addition to the university's measures against her.

The administration at Usak University referred to the flag as an "LGBT rag" and said they opened an investigation launched against the student.

Caymaz also posted two photos of herself with the flag on her official Twitter account and wrote: "Mezun olundu, which means graduated, along with the LGBTQ+ flag emojis."

Many comments flooded the post shared by the Turkish students as some called her brave and supported her despite the university's decision to open an investigation against her.
