ALBAWABA - Turkey has uncovered shocking details regarding the investigation into the causes of the fire that broke out in a Turkish ski resort hotel a few days ago.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya revealed that 78 people were killed in the fire that engulfed Kartalkaya Ski Resort hotel on Jan. 21. The hotel at the Kartalkaya Ski Resort occurred at 3:27 a.m. local time, Ali Yerlikaya wrote on X (formerly Twitter). He said: "I wish God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to our injured."

What's the reason behind Turkey's ski resort hotel fire?

Turkish media revealed that investigations uncovered that the kitchen workers of the Grand Kartal Hotel, located on the fourth floor of the hotel, turned on the grill used to prepare breakfast, and suddenly the oil that had been left on the fire for a long time caught fire.

Upon seeing the flames rising from the kitchen, the cook and the workers wanted to intervene to put out the fire.

Local newspapers further mentioned that the flames spread rapidly from the hood to the chimney, which had not been cleaned for a long time, and it rapidly extended to the roof and surrounded the hotel in a short time.

In addition, the fire alarm did not work as it was broken down.
