Since his re-election in 2024, Donald Trump has threatened on several occasions to invade Greenland and add Canada as an American state. However, the threats seem to be taking a serious turn with Trump telling reporters at the 2026 Davos that "We have to have it."

The US President also shared text messages from French President Emmanuel Macron. The French President wrote, "My friend... I do not understand what you are doing on Greenland."

Macron allegedly wrote to Trump that while they are totally in line regarding Syria and Iran, he doesn't understand what the US President is doing. In the text messages, Macron invited Trump to dinner in Paris so they could discuss the issue at hand.
