A TikTok video shocked women worldwide and sparked concerns over the safety and quality control of feminine hygiene products after a woman documented mold, insects, and contaminants inside a sealed pack of female pads.
After the TikTok video went viral, many activists and social media users also shared that they noticed the same in their new pads.
The trend has increased debates among females about hygiene, health risks, and quality control, as health experts warned that such pads could cause vaginal and urinary tract health.
One online user said, "I thought they were lying… but when I looked at mine, look at this." She revealed after making sure to document that the external box is clean, unused and sealed. However, when she placed one pad under a warm light, she was shocked to see mold, insects and other contaminants.
An X user wrote, "Unopened. Unused. Straight out of the box," adding, "WOMEN ARE LOSING IT - MOLD FOUND INSIDE “BRAND NEW” PADS. They open it on camera thinking it’s clean… then hold it up to the light and it’s glowing green and black with mold."
