ALBAWABA - A Syrian man in Lebanon was kidnapped and tortured for 15 days until he died in Beqaa Governorate in Lebanon.

The Syrian man, named Ali Abed Baqi, died days ago after he disappeared for over two weeks and was tortured at the hands of known people.

Pictures of the young Syrian man circulated after he was found, with traces of torture on his body, amid a wave of criticism of the growing wave of racism against Syrian refugees in Lebanon especially after the killing of local politician Pascal Suleiman.

Meanwhile, his brother Bassam Abdel Baqi, who lives in Idlib, told Al Arabiya.net that "Ali had been missing for 15 days and the family had not been able to reach him."

He noted after over two weeks, the police station in Beirut contacted them a few days ago after his pictures were circulated to most police stations." This was in order to receive him after he was found thrown in a street in the capital, in a deteriorating health condition, and in dire need of treatment," he added.

Days after being found by the police, the Syrian man died of his injuries as the doctor who examined his body, and stated that his heart stopped as a "result of the torture and severe bruises he received, which caused him internal bleeding."

This comes amid the chaos that occurred in Lebanon following the killing of local politician Pascal Suleiman at the hands of some Syrian men and the transfer of his body to Damascus.

The "Beirut Time" website reported scenes showing armed municipal elements storming a house in the "Qornet El Hamra" area in the Matn District, under the pretext of searching for Syrians.

According to local media, Syrians have earlier threatened Lebanese residents in the area with weapons, and the matter almost developed into a clash between the two parties, according to the same website.
