ALBAWABA - Social media platforms were buzzed and shocked after the news of a Sudanese infant being raped and killed in Egypt
Janet Goma, the 10-month-old Sudanese baby, was found dead with signs of sexual assault in a park in Nasr City on April 19, according to the Refugees platform in Egypt.
According to the platform's Instagram post, the Sudanese baby lives with her family in Madinat El-Amal in Nasr City and she was reported missing before being found dead.
Egypt's prosecution released a decision that included "expediting police investigations into the incident, conducting an autopsy of Janet's body, preparing an autopsy report indicating the cause of death, and conducting a drug test on the suspect."
According to the Refugees platform in Egypt, a suspect was identified by authorities, arrested, and will stand on trial before the Public Prosecution, which decided to keep him for 4 days pending investigation on charges of sexually assaulting an infant, ending her life, and disposing of her body in a public park in one of the streets of Nasr City.
In detail, Janet Goma was in the care of her older sister while their mother was resting then she went out of the house inadvertently and disappeared after noting her disappearance, the family was unable to locate or find her.
Early investigation suggests that the Sudanese infant was likely kidnapped by an "Egyptian worker," sexually assaulted and then killed, while the attacker tried to dispose of her body in the park.
The hashtag "#حق_الطفلة_جانيت (which means justice for baby Janet)" has been trending in Egypt since her story became a public matter with an Egyptian lawyer vowed to stand with her family in court to implement the most severe punishment against the attacker.
