ALBAWABA- American astronauts, who went on an 8-day mission, but got stuck for eight months, want to cast their ballots in the upcoming US elections in November 2024 from space.
Despite the huge distance separating them from Earth, the two astronauts stuck in space said they want to take part in the 2024 presidential elections, while they are spending difficult times in the face of unexpected challenges in space.
The two astronauts described their insistence on voting in the presidential elections as a national duty, stressing that "homesickness remains present."
Sunita Williams, 59, and Barry E. Wilmore, 61, have been stuck in space since June 5 after reaching outer space on the first manned test flight of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft, which was supposed to take eight days.
According to NASA, the expected return date for the two astronauts is in February 2025, aboard the SpaceX Dragon rocket, which they are waiting for to arrive to take them back to Earth.
Despite insisting on voting in the November elections, Sunita Williams and Barry E. Wilmore didn't reveal the person they want to vote for in the 2024 presidential elections. It is worth noting that the US is holding elections in two months as competition is currently getting hotter between Republican candidate and former US president Donald Trump as well as Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris.
