ALBAWABA - A man, who was carrying a hammer, at Italy's Milan Airport, set a check-in desks on fire causing fear and chaos at the airport on Wednesday.
Italian media said that a passenger smashed check-in desks at Malpensa Airport in Milan city using a hammer, then he set them on fire.
The incident took place at about 11 a.m. local time at Terminal 1 of the Malpensa Airport, and videos of the incident went viral on social media.
In the clips, a man was spotted throwing what appears to be a flammable liquid and igniting a rubbish bin near the check-in area at the Milan Airport.
According to the India Express, a security staff member at the airport reportedly was slightly injured while trying to stop the attacker.
The suspect is an Italian citizen, but the reason behind the attack is still unclear.
"The situation was quickly brought under control after the arrest of the madman who set fire to and destroyed several check-in desks," the Lombardy Airports Association revealed.
