ALBAWABA - After the George Clooney Foundation for Justice announced that it "will demand the arrest of Russian propagandists working in Europe", Russia fired back through a tweet by the country's security head Dmitry Medvedev calling the actor "Mediocre".
The tweet in question claimed that George Clooney's foundation was trying to "hurt" Russian journalists all over the world and persecute them. Dmitry added that Clooney could not arrest them as they would "find him first". Moreover, he cleverly referenced one of the actor's movies in the comment mockingly.
Russia declares war on the George Clooney Foundation for Justice
Russian news outlet TASS announced that the George Clooney Foundation for Justice which is run by the actor, his wife, and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney is encouraging the EU as well to take legal action against Russian "propagandists" who say positive things about Russian during the war on Ukraine.
Social media users had a lot to say about the matter with many taking both sides of the feud:
"Clooney just lost it."
"The West is getting Hollywood to fight their battles, not the actions of a winning side which is pathetic actually. Soon they will send Taylor Swift after Russia."
"George Clooney, mediocre actor? You are in error. Tell me a well-known Russian actor."
"This is great! Setting a good example for others to follow while hardening up the system of justice and rule of law".
Russia says George Clooney should watch his back
Dmitry said in his tweet on X (formerly known as Twitter):
"A certain mediocre actor called George Clooney has decided to use his Foundation to hunt down Russian journalists all over the world and persecute them. The effort would be wasted, however: our professional journalists will find him first. They are very attentive and highly trained people. And they are going to have a chat "from dusk till dawn".
