ALBAWABA - A video has circulated the internet showing occupation soldiers putting the Israeli flag over a hill in the town of Maroun El Ras in Lebanon near the border with Israel.
The video has triggered the anger of many activists who decried placing the Israeli flag in the Lebanese territory.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) posted the video of the soldiers and wrote: "Today, Tuesday, the Israeli Broadcasting Corporation published scenes of Israeli soldiers raising the Israeli flag in the town of Maroun El Ras in southern Lebanon."
According UNIFIL announcement, Israeli soldiers withdrew from the park on the outskirts of the town of Maroun El Ras after the flag-raising scene provoked the Lebanese.
Many questioned the fact that the video was really taken from Maroun El Ras town as many said the place where the flag was raised was on the outskirts of the town and is inside the Israeli territory and not in Lebanon.
Some also reportedly said that the video was internationally made and published to provoke Lebanese people.
A person commented on a post on Instagram: "This was fake news- please remove this post!" Another added: "Someone geolocated the flag and it's not on Lebanese soil. This is Israeli propaganda. Please do better than spread fake news!"
Activist Tamer posted on his X account clarifying that when he saw the pictures, there was a model of the Dome of the Rock destroyed in the place where the flag was raised.
He added when searching Google Maps, he was surprised that the place where the flag was raised is the closest point to the border, "in fact," it is a public park separated from the town of Maroun El Ras.
