ALBAWABA - Naveed Akram is one of the terrorist gunmen who carried out a shooting attack against a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, killing at least 15 people on Sunday.

One of the gunmen was also killed at the scene of the shooting attack, while the incident left 43 injured, of whom 25 people are still in hospital getting treatment.

The Bondi Beach was "a terrorist attack inspired by Islamic State," Australian federal police commissioner Krissy Barrett announced today.

Naveed Akram, 24, and his father, Sajid Akram, 50, travelled to the Philippines in the month before a deadly shooting at Bondi Beach, with reports suggesting they visited the Asian country to receive "military-style training", highlighting that in one of the shooting videos, Naveed was seen shooting like a professional and not like a normal person.

In addition, the Australian police revealed that they have found Islamic State group flags and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a vehicle used by the shooters.

A video that dates back years earlier was recently posted on social media showing Naveed Akram, preaching Islam inside the Bungalow railway station in Australia.

He said, "As-salamu alaykum, brothers, we are at Bankstown Station spreading Da'wah [call for Islam]. Preach, my brothers, preach wherever you are. We are here to spread the message that God is one and Prophet Mohammed is the Messenger of God."

He continued, "Guys, spread Dawah everywhere and the message that God is one wherever you can. It doesn't matter if it's just one verse. In the rain, in the cold, or in the open air... God will reward you for every deed you do in His path."
