ALBAWABA - A video circulated on social media showing a woman allegedly identified as Iranian stripping completely naked in protest.
In the clip, a naked Iranian woman was spotted in Iranian streets, with people claiming the video was captured in Mashhad city, about 900 kilometres from Tehran.
Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American Journalist and women's rights activist, posted the clip and wrote: "Iranian woman’s naked protest shakes the Police!
This woman in Iran has completely stripped naked in front of security forces, climbing onto a police vehicle in protest."
"The footage shows armed security forces trying to prevent bystanders and cars from gathering at the scene," she added.
However, Alinejad mentioned that no confirmed details have been uncovered regarding the reason, location, or date of this clip, but some users claim it happened in Mashhad.
This comes amid a time when women are facing harsh restrictions in Tehran under the Iranian regime, which bans females from their basic rights and forces them to compulsory hijab and certain dress codes.
About two years ago, nationwide protests erupted in Iran following the death of Iranian woman Mahsa Amini, who was held by the country's morality police for violating the dress code. She died after being beaten up by the police on Sept. 16 triggering violent demonstrations.
The story of Mahsa Amini echoed worldwide leaving both women and men protesting across multiple countries, females cut their hair and burned hijabs in protests against Iran's strict rules imposed on women.
Al Bawaba declines to post the video for its sensitivity.
