Nairobi 'rubbish dump' suspect confesses of killing 42 women

ALBAWABA - A suspected serial killer was arrested by the Kenyan police following a probe into the body parts of several women thrown in a rubbish tip in Nairobi.

The suspect confessed to murdering 42 women including his wife, the Kenyan police revealed on Monday. The man said he committed his crimes between 2022 and July 11, 2024.

The police have recovered since Friday a total of nine butchered bodies, that were placed in plastic bags and dumped in the garbage site in the Mukuru slum area in the south of the capital.

The incident has triggered anger among residents of the capital Nairobi and caused shock in media.

Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja said the 33-year-old suspect, named as Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, was arrested at around 3:00 am (0000 GMT) on Monday near a Nairobi bar where he had been watching the Euro 2024 football finals.

AFP reported citing Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, the suspect, 33, is named Collins Jumaisi Khalusha.

He was arrested by police while he was watching the final game of Euro Cup 2024 at around 3:00 a.m. on Monday near a Nairobi bar.

"We are dealing with a serial killer, a psychopathic serial killer who has no respect for human life," the head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin said.
