ALBAWABA - A massive anti-government protest erupted in the capital, Tehran, on Wednesday night, with people calling for the fall of the Islamic regime despite the Iranian government's crackdown on protesters.

Videos showing a massive crowd gathering in Tehran have been shared for the first time in conjunction with the resumption of internet services after they were cut for weeks.

Protests have been going on in Iran since late December 2025, when people demonstrated against the sharp fall of the currency and the harsh economic situation and evolved to become anti-government protests.

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the number of deaths in the Iranian protests, with U.S.-based Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) saying that at least 6,126 have been killed.

Meanwhile, documents reviewed by Iran International's Editorial Board put the Jan. 8-9 crackdown death toll at over 36,500 people.

A famous Instagram figure, known as Baby Rider, was shot dead by Islamic Regime forces during anti-government protests in Iran, social media activists reported on Tuesday.

Influencer Baby Rider, 19, was reportedly shot and killed amid the latest deadly demonstrations that erupted across the country since December 2025.
