ALBAWABA - Amid boycott campaigns over the war in Gaza and the deterioration of sales and revenues, McDonald's Saudi Arabia released a new statement confirming "Mac is Arabic".

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), McDonald's Saudi Arabia wrote a caption: "An official statement (We stopped counting due to their large number)."

In the picture, McDonald's Saudi Arabia said: "We in McDonald's assure you that "Mac is Arabic," the bread is Arabic, not French, and fresh as well."

They added: "We call everyone not to spreading misinformation and rumors [about McDonald's Saudi Arabia]."

An international boycott campaign was reestablished last October following the violent war in Gaza launched by Israeli forces in response to Hamas' Al-Aqsa Flood operation on Oct. 7.

In late April, McDonald’s posted its quarterly financial results, revealing the outcome of recent restructuring and heat under the fast-food chain as it struggles with boycott calls in the Middle East and lower consumer spending on restaurants.

Global comparable sales growth fell to 1.9 percent for the fourth consecutive quarter, in contrast to LSEG analysts’ expectation of a 2.35 percent rise, as Reuters reports, with the business stating that customers have become "more discriminating with every dollar they spend.”
