ALBAWABA - A video of a luminous object in Iran has circulated on social media sparking wide debate, and theories and triggering discussions online.

In the clip, a luminous object, which was spotted at night in several areas in Iran, has caused wide debate on social media where people questioned what was it.

The object was seen in the skies over Tehran, Karaj, and Rasht in Iran.

Multiple theories were raised online with a group of people allegedly saying this could be a new cruise missile Iran is testing to use in its attack against Israel.

An X user posted the video and wrote: "It seems to be a new cruise missile being tested, as it is flying at low altitude at subsonic speed."

Another added: "Reports suggest it was a meteorite."

On the other hand, others took to social media to claim that Israel is spying on Iran amid a possible Tehran attack on Tel Aviv.

Israel and Iran have been directly launching attacks against each other since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023. Iran made its first direct missile attack on Israel in April 2024, following an attack on its consulate in Damascus which led to the killing of seven people including a top commander and his deputy.

Despite that Israel didn't claim responsibility for the attack, Iran accused Tel Aviv of carrying it leading to the death of IRGC's Quds Force commander General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and his deputy General Mohammad Hadi Hajriahimi.

Following the April attack, Iran launched a bigger attack on Israel on October 1, 2024, targeting multiple military sites in revenge for the killing of resistance leaders. In response, Israel attacked Iran on October 26.
