ALBAWABA - A photo of a journalist on Cross was widely shared online, as many activists allegedly said it was created by the famous artist Banksy.

In the picture, a journalist was seen wearing a "Press" vest and helmet as well as holding cameras around his neck. The journalist was covered in blood, in reference to the suffering journalists face in Gaza amid the latest ongoing war which began on Oct. 7.

Moreover, on the head of the journalist in the shared picture, a Jesus' Crown of Thorns is seen on the head. Many pro-Palestinian activists posted the picture and wrote: "Banksy on murder of journalists in Gaza."

Another user said: "Brilliant from Banksy, the Jews killing Christ now killing Journalists in Gaza."

Many social media users claimed that the picture shared online was made by artist Banksy, a pseudonymous England-based street artist, whose real name and identity remain unconfirmed and the subject of speculation.

It is well-known that Banksy is a political activist, who created several graffiti across the world to show his political stances. However, the picture was not indeed created by Banksy, but it was made by Artificial Intelligence (AI), according to some experts online.

Pro-Palestine activist Hassan Ragab posted the photo on Instagram and wrote: "THIS IS A DIGITAL ARTWORK CREATED USING AI. NOT A REAL PHOTO."

He maintained: "It is estimated now that 100 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7th. This is a record number for any country in terms of killing journalists in a year. These journalists are the only reason why we know what's happening in Gaza. The absence of journalists often means the absence of truth."

Journalists in Gaza

Over 100 journalists were killed since the start of the Israeli aggressive attacks on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, following Hamas Group's Al-Aqsa Flood operation.

The media office in Gaza announced today the death of a Palestinian journalist in Israeli airstrikes, raising the death toll for members of the press targeted by Israel since Oct. 7 to 123.

Nonetheless, the photo of the journalist on the Cross was said to have been created to raise awareness of the huge, heartbreaking number of journalists being killed in Gaza during Israeli attacks.
