ALBAWABA- A disturbing act of violence at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport has triggered widespread condemnation after surveillance footage captured a traveler violently assaulting a young child.
The attacker, described in conflicting reports as either a Belarusian Jew, was seen grabbing the child, lifting him into the air, and slamming him to the floor with great force. The child sustained a skull fracture and remains in a coma.
The incident initially prompted diplomatic concern when some reports claimed the child was Iranian. However, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali clarified that Russian legal authorities had conducted a full investigation, confirming the child is of Afghan nationality.
The child was traveling with his family from Afghanistan to Russia at the time of the attack.
Jalali emphasized the importance of correcting the public record, stating: “Legal authorities in Russia conducted the necessary investigation, and it was confirmed that the injured child holds Afghan citizenship.”
The shocking assault, captured by airport surveillance, has raised serious concerns over passenger safety, mental health screening, and the security protocols in place at one of Russia’s busiest international airports.
