ALBAWABA - A picture showing names and logos of companies supporting and sponsoring the Jerash Festival has taken the internet by storm after McDonald's and Pepsi were among the names.

It is worth noting that since the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, a strict boycott campaign was launched worldwide to stop purchasing items directly or indirectly supporting Israel, highlighting that among the brands were McDonald's, Pepsico, Coca-Cola, Starbucks and many more.

Taking into consideration the Jordanian firm stance alongside people in Gaza in the face of the Israeli deadly war which started on Oct. 7, 2023, leaving at least 38,153 Palestinians killed, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health in Gaza.

Is Jerash Festival 2024 sponsored by McDonald's and Pepsi?

The picture circulated online amid anger that the Jordanian upcoming event is dealing with companies that are supporting Israel amid calls to boycott it. However, according to activists, the photo widely posted turned out to be an old one of the Jerash Festival and before the latest boycott campaign.

A new picture of companies sponsoring the Jerash Festival 2024 was posted on the official Facebook page and detailed no logo or name of related to any company supporting Israel.

Furthermore, the festival administration announced that all concerts and the Southern Theater have been cancelled, and a quarter of the tickets have been allocated to support our people in Gaza.

Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts

The Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts is an annual event held in Jerash, Jordan. It aims to enrich cultural activities in Jordan. Founded in 1981 by Queen Noor, it features several shows performed by Jordanian, Arab and foreign artists.

In 2024, the 38th edition of the festival is scheduled to be held between July 24 and August 3, Jordan's Higher Committee of the Jerash Festival of Culture and Arts announced.

In addition, the Director of the Jerash Festival Ayman Samawi revealed that the Jerash Festival 2024 will be held under the slogan "The Promise Continues", The Jordan Times reported.
