ALBAWABA - With summers getting hotter and hotter in the humid island nation, Japanese brands have innovated a ‘human refrigerator’ inspired by vending machines.
The invention, developed by Japanese refrigeration and vending machine manufacturer SDRS, called the ‘Do Hiemon Box’ is a one-person cooling booth that looks like a large vending machine.
The box maintains a temperature of 15 degrees Celsius, inside there’s a seat which remains at 5 degrees, allowing anyone who enters the box to cool down immensely in a short amount of time.

Particularly helpful for people who work in hot environments such as construction sites, factories, warehouses and outdoor event venues - the company claims users can are noticeably cooler within around five minutes, and spending about 10 minutes inside relieves symptoms of heat exhaustion.
It seems the box will come in handy for Japanese people as 48 people were taken to hospital for heatstroke in Tokyo on 15 July.
