ALBAWABA - Benjamin Netanyahu's deliberate public appearances following the liberation of four Israeli captives have received criticism. An Israeli Haaretz columnist said the current operation, although substantial, has not changed Israel's strategic position in Gaza.
According to writer Yossi Verter, Netanyahu's recent media presence at the hospital where the captives were liberated serves an image management goal.
Verter emphasizes that Israel faces significant Gaza issues with no post-war planning. Due of the significant deaths from the Nusairat camp rescue operation, worldwide disengagement with Israel is developing.
The Israeli military's assault in Nusairat camp killed 274, including 64 children and 57 women, according to the Gaza Government Information Office.
Verter notes that radical government elements want to conduct similar operations despite the dangers.
Netanyahu's minimal connection with liberated captives and the families of those perhaps slain in captivity has raised questions about his role in the rescue effort. Verter thinks that Netanyahu's camera presence may be deliberate, raising issues about his response if the operation fails.
Verter's assessment highlights Netanyahu's selective public appearances, especially in good news, and Israel's multifaceted involvement in Gaza and its international implications.
Earlier Today, Al-Qassam made the following declaration to the Israeli public in a statement: "Your army killed three hostages in the same camp, one of whom was an American citizen, following the massacre your army committed in Nusairat camp yesterday to save four hostages."
Photos of the dead captives were made public by the organization in a video titled "Your Government Kills Some of Your Hostages to Save Others." It was emphasized by Al-Qassam that "your hostages will only be released through the liberation of our prisoners."
The video ended with the hashtag "time is running out," highlighting the shortening window of opportunity for a possible prisoner swap as the Israeli army's heavy shelling of Gaza is killing more Israeli prisoners.
