ALBAWABA - The Israeli embassy in Singapore has been subjected to criticism after a post on social media claiming that Israel was mentioned in the Quran 43 times while Palestine was not mentioned once.
Singapore's interior minister has asked the Israeli embassy to remove the post, which it described as "insensitive," amid fears that it will trigger fury of the people.
In the controversial post, the Israeli embassy in Singapore reportedly said that the term Israel was mentioned 43 times in the Quran, however, Palestine wasn't mentioned, according to local media.
Minister for Home Affairs K. Shanmugam said to reporters: "That post on the Israeli embassy's social media page is completely unacceptable. I was very upset when I was told about it."
He further maintained in a press conference: "Posts like these can... inflame tensions, and can put the Jewish community here at risk. The anger from the post can potentially spill over into the physical realm."
