ALBAWABA - On Met Gala night, the Israeli army decided to start the invasion of Rafah, where 1.4 million reside after fleeing the war area in Gaza, sparking anger about whether the timing was planned to distract people's attention.

The Israeli military told Palestinians and international humanitarian organisations operating in eastern Rafah to “temporarily evacuate” the area amid the ground operation which happened to take place on the same day as the Met Gala 2024, where celebrities gather on the red carpet.

As the war enters its 8th month, at least 34,735 Palestinians have been killed and more than 78,108 were reported injured, according to the Gaza ministry of health data.

Anger crashes social media platforms after the attention switched from Gaza's Rafah ground operation to the celebrities participating in the 2024 Met Gala event in New York.

"Celebrities' dress are taking more attention and coverage on new than Rafah and the ground invasion," pro-Palestinian activists wrote on social media.

A person posted two clips from Gaza and the Met Gala and wrote: "Amazing dress worn by Cardi B at the Met Gala, requiring the help of 10 men to fix it nicely for her.

Here is a group of Palestinian men collecting pieces of flesh of what was once a family in Rafah after the IOF bombed their house."

Another posted: "A man carrying a celebrity unable to walk in her tight dress at the Met Gala is getting more coverage than a father carrying his dead child in Rafah, Gaza."

Not only the Met Gala event, but Israel also decided on Sunday to close the offices of Qatar-based Al Jazeera TV in Israel, two days after World Press Freedom Day, causing confusion and triggering anger Israel is attempting to obliterate the truth.
