ALBAWABA - An Iranian journalist and economic reporter has landed in hot water after he criticized Tehran's attack on Israel which occurred on Saturday night, Mizan News Agency, which is affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, announced on Sunday.

According to local media, the Public Prosecution in Tehran filed a complaint against the Jahane Sanat economic newspaper and its economic correspondent.

According to Mizan News Agency, the Iranian journalist and the newspaper had criticized Iran's response to Israel, by pointing out its bad effects on the country's economy in a "mocking" manner.

Furthermore, the prosecution accused the newspaper and its economic correspondent, Behnam Samadi, without mentioning his name, of "destabilizing the psychological security of society and disrupting the economic space in the country, after the successful operation of the Iranian armed forces." It further noted that Jahane Sanat's manager and the reporter were summoned to the Tehran courthouse, and formed a judicial file against them.

Iran launched over 300 drones against Israel in retaliation for a deadly strike on Iran's Damascus consulate during which seven IRGC members were killed, two of them were generals.

But despite more than 300 munitions being fired in Iran's unprecedented blitz, Israel says more than "99 per cent" were intercepted.

Israel's war cabinet in return is discussing ways and the right time to respond to the latest Iranian attack.

Earlier, Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei vowed in a televised speech after Eid al-Fitr prayers in the capital that Israel "will be punished" for attacking the Iranian consulate in Syria.
