ALBAWABA - A US Senator is facing death threats over the possible ban on the Chinese app TikTok in the United States.
Senator Thom Tillis posted on his X account that his office received a voice note in which a person was threatening to kill him if the TikTok platform gets banned in the US.
In the voice message, a person was heard saying: "Okay listen, If you ban TikTok, I will find you and shoot you."
Last week, the US House of Representatives voted in favor of a bill to ban the Chinese app unless its developer ByteDance divests from the company amid national security concerns.
According to media outlets, the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act gained 352 votes in favor, and only 65 against.
US Senator posted on X and wrote: "This is a voicemail my office received last night. TikTok's misinformation campaign is pushing people to call their members of Congress, and callers like this who communicate threats against elected officials could be committing a federal crime."
He added: "The Communist-Chinese aligned company is proving just how dangerous their current ownership is. Great work, TikTok."
