On the other side, a person commented, "Oh, what a glorious scene. Giving medals to the dead. The wisest leader in the whole world."
According to the German DW website, the ceremony was held by the North Korean president for soldiers reportedly killed while fighting on the war front, along with Russian soldiers in Ukraine.
AFP reported that the ceremony took place on August 22 at the April 25 House of Culture in Pyongyang, North Korea. The event was held to award state commendations to the commander and combatants of the Korean People's Army's Overseas Operational Forces, who were part of military operations in Kursk Oblast.
Moreover, local media shared videos of Kim Jong-un awarding medals to other soldiers and attending funerals.
South Korea reportedly suggested that North Korea sent 15,000 troops to Russia, of whom around 600 were killed.
