ALBAWABA - Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash that took place on Sunday, when the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran was heading from an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The plane crash took place in the northwestern province of East Azarbaijan and search operations were maintained for several hours due to harsh weather conditions and on Monday morning Iran announced that there were no survivors in the helicopter crash.
Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, Iran's East Azerbaijan Province Governor Malek Rahmati, and Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Ale-Hashem, the representative of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution to East Azerbaijan province, and some other people were all also killed in the incident.
'Fully burned': Alleged picture of Ebrahim Raisi's body after crash goes viral
A picture went viral on social media showing a "fully burned" body allegedly said to belong to the Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi.
The picture, which is not very visually clear, shows a body neither its facial details nor other parts are clear to eyes due to burns. The photo caused controversy among people on social media but gained wide interaction as well.
Many said that users are now exploiting the situation in Iran and the helicopter crash that killed Ebrahim Raisi and Iran's FM to get more views and to become famous considering that many false and old pictures as well as videos emerged on Sunday by many people and circulated online.
The Iranian president was said to be recognized by rescue groups by his ring, similar to what happened when the US targeted Qasem Soleimani in Iraq, he was recognized by his ring as well.
However, no official statement was made regarding the alleged photo which claimed by some to belong to the Iranian president after the helicopter crash.
