ALBAWABA - A clip has caused wide anger among pro-Palestinian activists showing a group of Israeli army forces taking a Palestinian prisoner and raping him.
The footage caused wide controversy online as many decried it calling for an investigation and punishment of those seen in the video raping a prisoner. According to activists, the footage was shared by SMohyeddin and CH12 Hebrew.
According to reports on social media, the Palestinian prisoner was hospitalized with injuries, including a torn rectum, broken ribs and ruptured bowels.
In the footage that went viral online, a group of Israeli soldiers were captured on video taking a Palestinian prisoner and using their shields to cover their actions while raping him.
Sources said that the video was captured at the Sde Teiman detention centre, but the identity of the Palestinian prisoner was not revealed.
Many reactions emerged on social media as pro-Palestinian activists called for immediate action against Israeli crimes against Palestinian prisoners. A person wrote: "Israelis are on camera gang-r*ping prisoners."
Last week, chaos was reported in Israel after a reservist and nine other soldiers appeared in military court for investigation after they sexually abused a detainee from Gaza. The reservist was accused of using "severe violence against the detainees he was entrusted with guarding," an Israeli military spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, other forces were detained last Monday for raping and attacking a Palestinian prisoner at the Sde Teiman detention centre, Israeli media said. After protests in Israel, the court gave the accused soldiers anonymity for at least two weeks.
