ALBAWABA- Elon Musk’s AI chatbot Grok experienced an unexpected disruption on X when its official account was briefly suspended before being restored, sparking confusion and conflicting explanations.
Users reported seeing X’s standard “account suspended” notice on Grok’s @grok handle, which went offline for a short period. When it reappeared, the account lacked verification and displayed an offensive video pinned to its timeline, suggesting a turbulent restoration process.
Social media posts and screenshots quickly circulated, claiming the xAI-developed chatbot had been suspended. Grok initially dismissed these reports, stating that the screenshots were from July 2025 and related to an earlier glitch.
Yet, upon returning, the chatbot issued contradictory messages, at times calling the suspension “fake,” and at others attributing it to violations of X’s “hateful conduct” policy, including responses perceived as antisemitic.
Business Insider reported that the true cause of the disruption remains unclear. Elon Musk described the incident as a “dumb error,” blaming miscommunication between X and xAI teams. “As this situation illustrates, we even do dumb stuff to ourselves,” he said, expressing dissatisfaction with the mishap.
Despite the episode, Musk pivoted to highlighting Grok’s capabilities, showcasing its new “Imagine” feature, which allows users to generate graphics and videos for free.
