ALBAWABA - An online campaign was launched on X (formerly Twitter) calling to boycott the American famous news outlet, CNN.

The hashtag #DownWithCNN has been trending on X along with posts that call people inside and outside the United States to stop watching or reading news from CNN.

Cable News Network (CNN) is a multinational news channel and website operating from Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. It was founded in 1980 by American media proprietors Ted Turner and Reese Schonfeld as a 24-hour cable news channel.

It is worth noting that CNN was the first television channel to provide 24-hour news coverage and the first all-news television channel in the US.

#DownWithCNN: Online campaign to boycott CNN, here's why

Many people in America were angered at CNN for its latest campaign against current President Joe Biden especially following the latest presidential debate between Biden and former US President Donald Trump.

CNN was accused by Americans of being the new "Fox News," which is known to be a Republican channel that always supports Trump.

A social media user wrote: "#DownWithCNN I'm not watching @CNN or  @MSNBC until they stop their attacks on Biden."

Another added: "Convicted felon Trump has a 40-year history of hanging out with known child rapists and sex traffickers, and can add P Diddy to the list. But the media refuses to report on this, determined to destroy Biden over age and a cough. "
