ALBAWABA - Rumors circulated on social media that American citizen and pro-Russian blogger Gonzalo Lira reportedly died in Ukrainian jail.
According to several activists online, Lira died in a Ukrainian detention center on Jan. 12. However, the news was not confirmed by any official side till this moment, while many people said that his death may cause tension between the United States and its "beloved" Ukraine.
Kit Klarenberg, an Investigative journalist, was one of the first to allegedly say that the pro-Russian blogger died in jail.
He wrote on X: "Gonzalo Lira is dead." The journalist maintained: "Confirmed by his family. I disagree with him on just about everything."
"He shouldn't have died in a Ukrainian jail though."

Nonetheless, Tucker Carlson on Dec. 9 spoke about the case of Gonzalo Lira, whom he said was subjected to torture in a Ukrainian prison since July, "for the crime of criticizing Zelensky."
Carlson also reported the death of the blogger after an interview with his father.
Elon Musk also commented on a post, written by businessman David Sacks, in which he reported the death of Lira: "This is super messed up!".
