ALBAWABA - Rumors flood social media with many sharing baseless claims that Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh got married to a 28-year-old woman claiming that this is his third marriage.
According to social media allegations, Ismail Haniyeh, 62, who lives in Qatar, has allegedly tied the knot for the third time to a woman named, Malak Khanji.
Many circulated the unconfirmed news and criticized the Hamas leader for allegedly "getting married" amid the ongoing war in Gaza, during which 31,819 Palestinians were killed and 73,934 were injured, according to data from the Gaza health ministry.
A person, named Karim Gahin, claimed on X: "Congratulations, groom. Well, at least wait till the war in Gaza ends. We extend our congratulations to (the groom) Ismail Abdel Salam Ahmed Haniyeh (62 years old) on his marriage to Miss Malak Khanji (28 years old)."
Allegations were not limited to the "marriage" of Hamas' head. Still, many claimed that the wedding took place in Istanbul, Turkey and was allegedly done by the Egyptian preacher Wagdi Ghoneim on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Did Ismail Haniyeh get married to a 28-year-old woman?
Lebanese journalist and blogger Ahmad M. Yassine posted on his X account denying allegations surrounding Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
Yassine rejected all "marriage" claims that are circulating Ismail Haniyeh by confirming that the Hamas leader resides in Qatar and hasn't made any visit to Istanbul recently, but only went to Cairo, Egypt. He further noted that Haniyeh has only got married one time not three as being allegedly said.
The journalist replied to a post shared by the Lebanese Network and said: "Hello, the Lebanese Network for Intellectual Prostitution, you are spreading misleading information. Ismail Haniyeh is married once, not twice, so the young woman in the picture can't be his third wife. He is in Doha, not Turkey. The only destination he traveled to recently was Cairo and then he returned to Doha. Network, to hunt. Whoever controls you has to be skilled."
Moreover, many activists said that the allegations against Haniyeh are being pushed on social media by Israel with the aim to disgrace the resistance amid Israel's failure to achieve its "war goals" and its huge loss in the face of Hamas fighters in Gaza.
