ALBAWABA - Since US President Donald Trump announced his plan that Washington should "take over" the Gaza Strip and move Palestinians out, many debates and claims have been ongoing online.
A video was widely shared on social media by many pro-Israel figures including Israeli activist Edy Cohen, showing houses under construction with captions claiming that Ireland started to build houses to receive Palestinians who will leave Gaza.
The claim quickly went viral, with the video garnering more than a million views in a day. Originally shared in English, it suggested a certain context. However, an investigation revealed that the video’s content did not align with the claim.
The clip showing houses in Ireland went viral and gained over one million views in a single day. However, after investigation, the content of the video did not align with the claim.
What's the truth behind the houses in Ireland?
After research and probing it turned out that the clip was taken in Heywood Street in Clonmel, County Tipperary, southern Ireland, according to the fact-chek website Misbar.
The video that views the construction of a large camp in the midst of agricultural fields, turned out to be created to host Ukrainian refugees and not Palestinians from Gaza.
According to the official Irish government website, the new houses under construction are designated for Ukrainian refugees as between 2022 and 2024, the country agreed to host 109,056 people from Ukraine in temporary protection status.
It is worth noting that Ireland offers many services, such as English language courses, employment support, as well as resources for families, youth, and children.
