ALBAWABA - US Representative and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is the talk of the internet after rumors about her ex-husband Ahmed Elmi being reportedly her brother were rekindled sparking debate and speculations over the authenticity of the claims.
Previous rumors indicate that Ilhan Omar reportedly married her ex-husband and reported "brother" Ahmed Elmi so he could obtain a US Green Card.

Several social media platforms including Musk's X (formerly known as Twitter) were swarmed with posts accusing Ilhan Omar of "Marriage Fraud," further reviving the issue at hand. The serious allegations remain unverified until proven true, but social media users flocked to the comments sections discussing the matter and demanded Omar's deportation.
A user on X wrote, "She defrauded the government. Deport her." Another added, "Her citizenship should be revoked then."
On the contrary, several others took to Omar's defense and questioned the authenticity of such claims. "No, she didn’t. Your source is a no one."
According to Bussiness Insider, the years-long allegations were revived by fellow US Representative Lauren Boebert in 2021 who accused Ilhan Omar of "Immigration fraud" by reportedly marrying Ahmed Elmi.
Somali community leader Abdihakim Osman also accused Omar of reportedly marrying her brother Ahmed Elmi and said, "She said she needed to get papers for her brother. We thought she meant residency—not marriage."
Ilhan Omar has been married to a businessman named Tim Mynett since 2020, but previously, to Ahmed Elmi from 2009 to 2017 and Ahmed Hirsi from 2018 to 2019 whom she officially and legally divorced.
