ALBAWABA - Pro-Palestine activists have taken to social media to criticize ChatGPT after a question about justice for Israelis and Palestinians.
Two questions were made on ChatGPT: "Do Palestinians deserve justice?" and "Do Israelis deserve justice?"
ChatGPT's answers have shocked pro-Palestinian advocates who said they didn't expect such a difference in the tones when speaking about human beings' rights for justice.
When asked "Do Israelis deserve justice?," ChatGPT said: "Justice is a fundamental principle that applies to all individuals and communities including Israelis." It added: "It's essential that justice is pursued in a fair and equitable manner."
However, the tone changed a lot when ChatGPT was asked about the Palestinians' rights to have justice, it answered: "The question of justice for Palestinians is a complex and highly debated issue with various perspectives and opinions."
It maintained: "Many people believe that the Palestinians, like any other group, deserve justice, including the right to self-determination, human rights, and a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
Social media users and advocates called ChatGPT a "racist" application for its full support for Israelis to live with justice but not for the Palestinians.
A person wrote: "ChatGPT prefaces justice for Palestinians as a “complex and debated” issue while unequivocally stating it’s a principle Israelis are entitled to.
Technology reveals our biases, the result of decades of dehumanizing language + policy that’s normalized apartheid."
Over 8,000 Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since the start of the latest Israeli-Gaza war on Oct. 7, more than 21,000 others were injured as well.
