ALBAWABA - Cartoonist Ann Telnaes, who has been working for a long time in The Washington Post, has resigned after the newspaper rejected to publish her latest cartoon of 'American billionaires' and Donald Trump'.

The longtime political cartoonist for the Washington Post submitted her resignation announcing reasons and sparking fears over press freedom restrictions in the U.S.

The resignation came after the paper rejected to share her latest cartoon depicting prominent American tech and media executives; including Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk kneeling before Donald Trump and holding bags of money while the cartoon character Mickey Mouse was seen lying next to them.

Journalists and cartoonists have announced their support for Ann Telnaes in the face of Jeff Bezos and his newspaper "The Washington Post" calling the rejection of publishing the cartoon of the Pulitzer prize winner a "failure of democracy in the U.S."

A person wrote: "The art that scares the powerful the most is often the one that exposes them most clearly."

On the other hand, many people on social media commented that they didn't get the cartoon while others said the drawing was not her best. An X user commented: "I get her point, but I personally think the cartoon isn’t very good."

Another said: "It's pretty representative of what political cartoons have always done. I'm not even sure what the big controversy is since this topic has been covered extensively."
