ALBAWABA - Ahmed Al Ahmed, the man being dubbed as a "hero" on social media for disarming one of the gunmen during the Bondi Beach shooting in Sydney, Australia, recently got his own official GoFundMe page, raising over $830,000.
Car Hub Australia and Zachery Dereniowski set up the GoFundMe fundraiser to express gratitude for Ahmed Al Ahmed, a father of two who migrated from Syria to Australia in 2006.
Car Hub Australia and Dereniowski wrote in the fundraiser's description, "This GoFundMe has been created to show our gratitude and support for someone who demonstrated incredible courage when it mattered most."
They added, "To kick things off and lead by example, we are making an initial donation of $50,000 to honour this absolute hero and help support him through recovery, and the lasting impact of this traumatic event."

Ahmed Al Ahmed's parents told ABC Australia that the 43-year-old was shot four to five times in the shoulder during the mass shooting incident.
According to the video that went viral, garnering millions of views, Ahmed was hiding behind a car when he noticed the shooter. He then tackled the shooter from behind, disarmed him, and pointed the rifle at him. The bystander was dubbed a hero by many social media users for his bravery.
A social media user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "watching that brave guy in the white shirt charge in and disarm the shooter gave me chills.. i love real life heroes like him, hoping a strong man tackles any danger to keep me safe someday."
