Over 40 million people have already recovered from the coronavirus after having been infected during the last few months. Following each recovery, most people have celebrated having survived the pandemic and "gained immunity" from the virus. Even the US President Donald Trump had declared that he's "immune" following his infection last October. However, an Egyptian Pharmacist has just announced that she has been hospitalized after contracting the virus for the third time.

Translation: "Hanan Lotfy, a Pharmacist from Mansoura, Egypt has been infected with COVID19 for the third time in 3 months: I've recovered the first two times and still fighting the third one. Her most severe side effect has been a pulmonary embolism."

Mansoura-based Dr. Hanan Lotfy, a Pharmacist and a volunteer in the medical field has announced that she is amongst the unfortunate people, who didn't gain immunity after her April COVID19 infection and that she contracted it a second time during September, before a third time two weeks ago.

Lotfy, who has been admitted to the hospital in her home town after her third COVID19 infection resulted in a pulmonary embolism, has told an MBC live talk show she called that her direct contact with COVID19 patients over the last 7 months is the main reason she's contracted the virus three times so far.

During the interview, the pharmacist explained that she, a non-smoker- didn't stop wearing a face mask even after her previous infections, but this alone wasn't enough in protecting her from the virus. However, Lotfy added that her only special medical condition prior to COVID19 is that she had her thyroid gland removed several years ago, but that she doesn't know if this has increased her chances of contracting the virus multiple times.

Hanan Lotfy's case has altered many people on social media, as they questioned whether immunity from the coronavirus will ever be achieved if people with anti-bodies still get infected once exposed to the virus.

Earlier this week, a 101-year old Italian woman was reported to have overcome her third COVID19 infection since the pandemic broke out earlier this year.
