According to a BBC report, a helicopter carried the resigned PM to the city of Agartala in India, accompanied by her sister. Waker-Uz-Zaman, the head of Bangladesh's army, said on national television on Monday that Hasina had resigned and that the armed forces would establish a transitional administration.

Waker said, "The country has suffered a lot, the economy has been hit, many people have been killed -- it is time to stop the violence. I hope after my speech, the situation will improve."

As pictures swarmed social media, users took to comment sections and voiced their opinions about the matter:

"Well, it's not every day you see someone stealing a whole zoo from a Prime Minister's house!"

"Goat, Rabbit, the Prime Minister's house is a zoo."

One user celebrated Hasina's departure and said, "Good things do happen."
