ALBAWABA - A video allegedly showing tunnels under the house of Maher Assad, brother of ousted Syrian President Bashar Assad, circulated on social media.

The video comes amid dozens of footage showing Syrians and rebels entering the properties of the Assad family in various cities across the country upon the collapse of the Syrian regime and the escape of Bashar Assad from the country.

In the clip, a person was heard saying this is the second floor under the house and there are loads of doors and tunnels underground. The person was mocking the lack of an elevator in the tunnels by saying "Was it possible that he was walking the stairs down?"

The video was shared on X by Abdullah Almousa, a Syrian journalist, with the caption: "The catacombs of Maher al-Assad's house in Damascus. He who fears the people digs tens of meters underground."

On December 8, the Syrian opposition announced the collapse of the Syrian regime of former President Bashar Assad after the latest intense fighting launched by Syrian opposition factions led by Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham.

The battles that began on November 27 with the regime forces in several areas of the country, the Syrian opposition factions were able to take control of the capital Damascus today, Sunday, and force the Syrian regime president, Bashar Assad, to flee the country, thus ending a dark era in Syria's history and beginning a new era.
