An Algerian boy, Abd Elkhalek Boudouda, who won a prize in a Holy Quran memorizing contest organized by Al-Shorooq T.V., said he plans to donate the whole amount to children in Gaza and Palestine.

The Algerian boy earned first place in the contest, which is called Mazamez Dawood, before winning he requested to wear the Palestinian national flag. After being announced as the winner of the Quran memorizing contest, the little boy said that he will donate all the money for the benefit of children in Palestine.

Abd Elkhalek asked the jury member Dr. Kamal Quddah, who visited Gaza in 2011 as an imam of the Algerian convoy, to transfer his prize which equals 400,000 dinars ($2800) to Palestine.

During his speech, the Algerian boy refused to take the money after being asked by the program presenter about his intentions of what to do with the prize. Abd Elkhalek said that he is not looking forward to buying a new phone or even giving the money to his family, but he would rather donate it to children suffering in Palestine.

Algerians have shown much support to the Palestinian cause, with the most notable being the Algerian athlete Fethi Nourine who refused to play against an Israeli opponent at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and received a 10-year suspension from the International Judo Federation (IJF).
