ALBAWABA - Houthi militia announced on Sunday the release of over 100 prisoners of war in a unilateral initiative, that came ahead of Eid al-Adha. However, the photos sparked criticism and mockery.
Social media users and activists widely mocked Houthis after it released 112 people in what it called "prisoners of war".
Yemenis took to social media platforms to shed light on the ages of people released by the militias, some are between 60 and 80. Many added that most of those released by the militia were kidnapped from their homes and mosques and had never been on the fighting fronts.
In addition, Yemeni Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani revealed that the goal of the Houthi militia’s announcement of the release of 112 detainees was to "whiten its criminal record."
He further described the release of kidnapped civilians outside the exchange lists as a "new lie," to mislead public opinion and obstruct any real progress in terms of the file of prisoners and abductees.
