Switzerland says it will soon give Tunisia $40 million from a Swiss bank account belonging to former dictator Zine al Abidine Ben Ali, reports AFP.

The bank account was frozen when the Swiss launched an investigation after Tunisia filed for legal assistance regarding Ben Ali’s investments, according to AFP.

Since Ben Ali’s overthrow in 2011, authorities have discovered the family’s long history of embezzlement and hidden assets.

Swiss officials say there is even more money to sort through.

“There are still several millions of dollars frozen in Switzerland. We’re trying to make progress on the issue,” said chief prosecutor Michael Lauber.

Ben Ali, who is currently seeking asylum in Saudi Arabia, has the opportunity to contest the monetary handover.
