In a videotaped interview released by prison authorities, Muammar Gaddafi’s son Saadi has asked for forgiveness, according to AFP.

Saadi, who was recently extradited from Niger, asked for the “forgiveness of the Libyan people and government” and admitted that he had been behind “acts of destabilization against the country.”

AFP reports the former head of Libya’s football federation also sought to assure his family that he was not being tortured in prison.

“I am doing well, I am in good health, and I am being very well treated,” he said in the tape.

Saadi’s brother, Saif al Islam, is also in custody in Libya and awaits trial for more serious human rights violations.
